From its beginning in 1990, the members of the bavarian chamber philharmonic orchestra were aiming to create and perform their own program concepts at the highest possible level. Two years later, the first CD recording in co-production with the Bavarian Broadcasting Company was released and won several awards from the international music press. Besides its own concert series in Augsburg/Germany, concerts all over the world, invitations to festivals, CD productions and the collaboration with renowned conductors and soloists such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Mischa Maisky, Mario Venzago, Michel Plasson, Règis Pasquier, Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, Martha Argerich and Mstislav Rostropovich are testament to the high quality of the orchestra. CD recordings have been released with companies such as Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Sony/BMG, Atlantis Art (Switzerland), Koch Schwann, Arte Nova, cpo and St.Louis Records/USA. Amongst these are the world premiere recordings of the concertos for one and two horns by Antonio Rosetti. They were given five stars by the BBC Music Magazin and were awarded three times ten points at „Klassik heute“. In 2006 the bayerische kammerphilharmonie released two CDs, one of which features the 100th birthday of composer Karl Amadeus Hartmann and was awarded best recording of the 12 existing world wide by BBC3 London. Their CD „Armida“ with german soprano Annette Dasch was released at the Salzburg Festspiele 2007 and has been awarded the “Echo Klassik” in 2008. This CD was recorded as Co-Production with the Bavarian Broadcasting Company and is Sony/BMG release. In February 2008 the recording with Reinhard Goebel and Yura Lee received the “Diapason d’or”. The orchestra is sponsored by Stadtsparkasse Augsburg (www.sska.de), by Stadt Augsburg as well as by smaller local sponsors as Scheidle&Partner, Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung and by the ochestra’s support-association “unschaetz-bar”.
